Wednesday, August 22, 2012 —Cook County Sheriff's Police took Brandon Brown, 27, of Lansing, IL, into custody last night on a warrant issued for a first degree murder charge out of Iowa City, Iowa in June.

According to Iowa police officials, Brown allegedly was in a verbal argument with a victim who he then shot multiple times and killed on June 22, 2012. Working off a tip that Brown was possibly staying at an address in South Holland, IL, the Cook County Sheriff's Central Warrant Unit began surveillance of a residence in South Holland where they determined was owned by a close friend of Brown.

Investigators were able to positively identify Brown through a basement window at 14938 S. Riverside Drive, sitting on a couch and watching television. Upon entry into the home, Brown produced himself and did not resist arrest. He was taken into custody and appeared at Branch 98 in the Criminal Courts Building for an extradition hearing, where he waived extradition and awaits to be transferred back to Iowa City.

Brown has 11 previous arrests, dating from December 2002 to September 2009, all in Harvey, Illinois. The charges include multiple domestic batteries, assaults, fleeing police and drug charges.
