ARREST MADE IN FORD HEIGHTS HOMICIDE

— A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a Ford Heights homicide, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced today.
At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 12, Cook County Sheriff’s Police were flagged down in Ford Heights by a person who reported that a man had had been shot in the 1300 block of East Lincoln Highway. When officers responded to the location they found an unresponsive man in a 1999 tan Jeep Cherokee. The man, who was later identified as 35-year-old Michael Armstrong of Harvey, had been shot multiple times. Paramedics transported Armstrong to an area hospital where he died.
During their investigation, Sheriff’s Police detectives learned that Armstrong was in the Jeep’s driver’s seat that night when an unknown man approached the vehicle’s driver’s side and shot Armstrong multiple times.
The detectives’ investigation led to the identification of 21-year-old Shaquille Williams of Markham as the shooter. He was taken into custody on April 9 by the Sheriff’s Police Gun Suppression Team at his residence.
Williams was charged with first degree murder on April 11. He is scheduled to appear for a bond hearing today at the George N. Leighton Criminal Court Building.
Sheriff Dart reminds the public that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty by the government in a court of law.
