COOK COUNTY JAIL ORDERED ON LOCKDOWN
Monday, February 2, 2015 — Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart has mandated a lockdown at the Cook County Jail until further notice.
The lockdown, where visitation and other detainee movement aside from court and medical appointments are limited, was ordered due to a labor shortage at the jail.
Approximately 36 percent of jail staff did not report to work over the last 24 hours. A total of approximately 110 officers on last night's and this morning's shifts were mandated to work overtime to compensate for the shortage of staff.
Sheriff Dart would like to thank staff who braved the extreme weather conditions to come into work. -
