SHERIFF’S OFFICE CONDUCTING TRAFFIC SAFETY CHECKPOINT IN HOMEWOOD
Wednesday, December 23, 2015 —Cook County Sheriff’s Police will conduct a roadside safety checkpoint Wednesday night through early Thursday morning in Homewood, Sheriff Thomas J. Dart said today.
At the checkpoint officers will ensure drivers are complying with Illinois driver's license and registration requirements as well as determine whether anyone is driving impaired.
The checkpoint's aim is to emphasize roadway safety, increase seatbelt usage by motorists, promote the importance of safe travel, and help reduce the number of vehicle crashes in Cook County.
Sheriff’s Police will also be conducting enhanced countywide patrols focusing on seatbelt law enforcement from Dec. 28 through Dec. 30 and Jan.1 through Jan. 3.
The checkpoint and the enhanced patrols are funded through grants from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
