COOK COUNTY SHERIFF CONDUCTING ENHANCED PATROLS DURING SUPER BOWL WEEKEND

—Cook County Sheriff’s Police will conduct enhanced patrol enforcement this weekend, Sheriff Thomas J. Dart said today.
From Jan. 30 to Feb. 1, Sheriff’s officers will be conducting specialized seat belt enforcement patrols throughout unincorporated Cook County.
Similar enforcements were conducted by Sheriff’s Police last year and early this year. During a Dec. 19, 2014, to Jan. 4, 2015, enforcement period Sheriff’s Police made seven arrests for driving on a revoked or suspended license, and issued 119 citations for seat belt law violations, 27 citations for speeding, and 35 citations for driving without insurance.
Sheriff’s Police issued 104 seat belt citations, 27 speeding citations, 46 uninsured motorist citations, and two car seat violation citations during a Nov. 17 to Nov. 30, 2014, enforcement period. Additionally, officers made 12 arrests for driving on a revoked or suspended license and a drug-related arrest.
This weekend’s enforcement is funded through grants from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
