Friday, November 16, 2012 The Cook County Sheriff's Office requests the assistance of the public to help identify the unidentified remains found July 2008 near Cicero, IL, through technology known as facial reconstruction. Sheriff's Police utilized new 3-D scan technology to help create a facial sketch of what the victim looked like in real life.

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago's Police Department was called to a wooded area near Pershing Road and Central Avenue near Cicero, IL when landscapers came across skeletal remains near the end of July 2008. The deceased was found in a remote area and it is estimated that the body remained there for three to eight months prior to discovery.

Upon exhausting several different methods for identification, Sheriff's Police were able to solve five missing persons' cases that fit the description of the victim. Three of those missing persons were found alive, one was alive but deported and the last one was deceased due to natural causes. After exhausting all conventional investigative methods including DNA testing, Sheriff's Police turned to facial reconstruction for assistance through NamUs, University of North Texas Center For Human Identification and Project Edan.

Using 3-D scan technology, a forensic artist was able to create a sketch of the victim prior to his death. While this is not to say the sketch is a mirror image of what he looked like, it could help jog the memory of someone who may have been familiar with his face.
The deceased is a white male between the ages of 55 to 75 years old, with gray/brown hair, an obvious crooked nose, a gap between the two front teeth and approximately 5'1"-5'6" in height.
